The reasons for anorexia

December 13th, 2009

Being thin is considered "beautiful" in most companies, which is unfortunate and part of why so many women become anorexic. Of course, anorexia can affect women and men, but most women are concerned. The media are partly responsible as well simply because only super thin women appear in advertisements. Consequently, women often feel like they must look as thin women in advertisements were often airbrushed to appear "perfect."

Theproblem is that being super thin is not what the body was supposed to be. Most women can not become perhaps too thin, because of their genetics and biology. The problem is that women desire to have a form while their body is a different form. This can create serious psychological problems and other problems such as anorexia. Certain industries such as acting, modeling, gymnastics, wrestling, figure skating, running, and others have a severe stress on individuals thing to be strong. This is not asurprising that many people become anorexic later.

There are psychological problems that may play a role in anorexia too. These include poor body image, low self-esteem, depression, perfectionism, physical violence, the need for control, inefficiency, conflict avoidance, sexual violence, the rigid patterns of thought, and thus on.

The family environment may also play a role in anorexia. For example, families that are extremely rigid, overprotective, or do notpeople have their own space are more likely to suffer from anorexia. In the case of girls or boys, even when young, becoming anorexic May in order to have control in certain areas of their lives and exercise their independence. Similarly, families where physical or sexual abuse occur or families who openly criticize the form of a child or weight in May to find the child exercises self-control through anorexia.

There seems to be a genetic role in anorexia too. Inreality, people whose relatives were anorexics are eight times more likely to develop this disease. There is no exact genetic factor that plays in the disorder, but it seems there is one.

Causes anorexia are very diverse and each person has very personal reasons. Therefore there is no single way to protect women or even men, to become anorexic. The best thing to do is be supportive and everyone, regardless of their weight. When a person has alsomuch or too regimes, they should not be congratulated on this behavior, but instead talked about why they believe they must have a certain size. Psychological reasons often come into play with anorexia and they are important to address.
